Staplehurst Arts Festival

Staplehurst Village Centre

17th and 18th November 2007, 11am-4pm

Join us in a celebration of creativity in Staplehurst! Come along and enjoy a weekend of art displays, digital work and musical performances, alongside creative workshops and activities, all in celebration of creativity in the kent village of Staplehurst.

Throughout the Festival a variety of art will be on exhibition. This will include work by miniaturists, lace makers, painters of various media, photographers, sculptors, film makers, and more. Organisations exhibiting include Mote Lodge, Blantyre House, Staplehurst Primary School, and Psarms Puppets.

There will be regular musical performances from local musicians, including Bennett and Bowman, Martin Friend, Ruth and Glyn Roberts, Staplehurst Music Centre, and Staplehurst Primary School.

A mural will be created and constructed on Saturday, which will be made up of panels painted by people of Staplehurst. The Rt. Hon. Miss Ann Widdecombe MP will be entering into the spirit of the event, by painting a panel for the mural.

John Sandon, International Director of Ceramics at Bonhams Auctioneers, and a familiar face from the Antiques Roadshow, will be hosting an afternoon of Antique Porcelain and Glass. John will be discussing the items brought in by the audience. Tickets in advance only, £5.00 per person to include an assessment of ONE porcelain or glass object. Numbers limited to 50.

There will be a number of creative workshops over the weekend. Published authors Ian McDonald, Ellen Dunn and Isabelle Bass will be exhibiting in the literacy corner and Ian will run a children’s creative writing workshop.Ian McDonald - Author In Schools website

A Raffle will be held during the event, and prizes will include Tea for Two at the House of Commons.
